The Only Brand with WindFree Technology

Everything else on this page is good to know, but WindFree is why people choose Samsung. It is for anyone who hates the feeling of a heat pump blowing air directly at them.

No Drafts

No more drafts — warmth through 23,000 micro holes, nothing on your skin

Instead of blasting air at you, Samsung pushes warmth through 23,000 micro holes in the front panel. You cannot feel it on your skin, but the room stays warm. In WindFree mode the unit runs at 23dB, quieter than conventional mode. It is the best choice for a bedroom where you do not want air blowing on your face at night.

Smart GEO

The house is just warm when you walk in — no app, no schedule

The Smart GEO feature uses your phone's location. As you head home, it turns the heat on. You do not touch an app or set a schedule. The house is warm when you walk in. That is it.

Sleep

Deep Sleep mode so you do not wake up with dry eyes or irritated skin

Good Sleep mode runs WindFree overnight so there is no air blowing on your face. If you have a Samsung Watch it tracks your sleep cycle and adjusts temperature accordingly. No cold blasts, no waking up with dry skin.

Cleaning

It dries itself out every time you turn it off — no gym bag smell

Every time you turn the unit off, Auto Clean runs for about 10 minutes and dries the internal heat exchanger. This stops the bacteria that builds up on wet coils. That smell some older heat pumps get, the damp gym bag smell, is what happens when this step is skipped. Samsung does it automatically so you never have to think about it.

Smart Home

Ties into every other Samsung device you already own

If you have Samsung appliances, SmartThings connects them. Track all your appliance power use in one place, set routines, or just ask Google Home or Alexa to turn the heat on. No extra hardware needed.

Running Cost

WindFree mode uses 77% less power than Fast mode once the room is up to temperature

Fast mode heats the room quickly, then WindFree takes over to maintain it at a fraction of the power. You get 3 to 5 units of heat for every 1 unit of electricity used. The AI Energy mode can cut that further by up to 20% by learning your usage patterns.

One outdoor unit, multiple indoor heads. Price varies by number of rooms and pipe run length. We price each job individually at quote time.

How We Install Samsung (The Craig Standard)

1

The real-world assessment

We don't just look at floor space. We check ceiling height and where you actually sit in the room. If we are putting a WindFree unit in, we position it so those 23,000 micro holes do their job without any obstructions. We also check boundary noise rules and salt air exposure on the North Shore.

Room size and ceiling height

Determines the kW you actually need, not the closest bracket size.

Insulation and orientation

A north-facing, well-insulated room needs less capacity than a south-facing room with single glazing.

Indoor unit position

Affects whether the heat reaches the whole room or just the end nearest the unit.

Outdoor unit placement

Boundary noise rules, airflow clearance and salt air exposure on North Shore installs.

2

The install itself

Craig holds an EPA Refrigerant Handling Licence. No shortcuts on the refrigerant side. A registered electrician handles all wiring. Large Samsung units over 6kW pull a lot of power, so we check your switchboard first to make sure you will not trip a breaker. We do not leave until the SmartThings app is on your phone and the geo-location is actually working. Every install is backed by a 12-month workmanship guarantee on top of the 5-year Samsung warranty.

Switchboard checked for large units over 6kW
SmartThings and geo-location set up and working before we leave
House left tidy

Support for life — we look after our own

We don't do general repairs on units installed by other companies. We save our time for our own customers. If we installed your Samsung, we are the only people you ever need to call for servicing or warranty work. We installed it, we know it, and we look after it.

Could You Pay as Little as $400 for Your Samsung?

The Warmer Kiwi Homes grant covers up to 90% of the cost, capped at $3,450. Most eligible homeowners pay just $400 to $700 out of pocket. Craig is a registered provider and handles all the paperwork. Takes 2 minutes to check your eligibility.

Samsung Installation FAQ

Which Samsung model is right for my room?

All current Samsung models have WindFree technology, so the core benefit is across the whole range. For most rooms the AIRISE is the answer. If you want the AI Auto and geo-location features that turn the unit on before you get home, step up to the AI Smart GEO. The WindFree Standard is a good value option where budget is the priority. We assess the room first and tell you exactly which model fits before you commit to anything.

What is WindFree and is it actually different?

WindFree is genuinely different from any other brand we install. Instead of blowing air at you through a vent, it disperses air through 23,000 micro holes in the front panel. The airflow is so gentle you cannot feel it. Samsung Medical Center research links direct cold airflow to skin irritation. It is not marketing, it is a real change in how the air reaches you. When WindFree mode is running, the outdoor unit also uses 77% less power than Fast mode.

How long does the install take?

A standard high-wall Samsung install takes a few hours. Multi-room systems usually take a full day. Ducted systems take one to two days depending on the size of the home. We confirm the timeframe when we come out for the quote.

What warranty does a Samsung come with?

Samsung offers a 5-year parts and labour warranty on residential heat pumps in NZ. If the unit develops a fault in that time the repair does not come back to you. Our installation work is also covered by a 12-month workmanship guarantee.

Can I get a Samsung on the Warmer Kiwi Homes subsidy?

Yes, many Samsung models qualify. The subsidy covers up to 90% of the installed cost, capped at $3,450, for eligible homeowners. Most people who qualify pay $400 to $700 out of pocket. Craig is a registered WKH provider and can check your eligibility when you get in touch.

Who handles servicing and repairs after the install?

Craig handles all servicing and repairs on every unit he installs. Annual service to keep the warranty valid, anything that comes up: you call us. We don't work on heat pumps we didn't install.

Do you install Samsung across the whole North Shore?

Yes. Takapuna, Devonport, Milford, Birkenhead, Glenfield, Albany, Silverdale, the East Coast Bays and the Hibiscus Coast. If you are not sure whether we reach your street, call us and we will tell you in 30 seconds.

Not Set on Samsung? We Install All Major Brands

We install all major brands and we are not paid more to recommend one over another. If you are weighing up Samsung against Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin or Panasonic, here is the honest short version: Samsung leads on WindFree airflow technology and AI smart home features. Mitsubishi Electric leads on noise levels. Panasonic leads on air quality with nanoe X and Blue Fin protection for coastal installs. Daikin leads on air quality features like the US7. The right one depends on your room, your budget and what matters most to you.
