Why Kiwis Choose Fujitsu

Fujitsu is known as New Zealand's Favourite Air because they are reliable and offer the longest warranty in the business. Here is what that means for your house.

Warranty

6-year warranty — a full year longer than almost everyone else

Fujitsu gives you six full years of parts and labour cover. If it develops a fault, you don't pay a cent for the fix. Most other brands stop at five years. That extra year matters when compressors and components are most likely to show their age.

Value

A proven brand at a price that usually beats Mitsubishi or Daikin

The Comfort Range gives you a high-quality, reliable unit at a price that typically comes in lower than a similar-sized Mitsubishi Electric or Daikin model. If budget matters and you still want a brand you can trust, Fujitsu is where we usually point people first.

Asthma & Allergies

Filters that actually capture dust and allergens

The Lifestyle and Floor Console ranges are Sensitive Choice approved. The Catechin filter captures dust, allergens and bacteria. If you have kids with asthma or anyone in the house who reacts to airborne particles, this is the range to look at.

Running Cost

You will see the difference on your power bill immediately

You get 3 to 5 units of heat for every 1 unit of power you pay for. Old-school heaters give you 1 for 1. That gap shows up on your bill from the first month you run it.

Control

Turn it on before you leave work so it's warm when you arrive home

The anywAiR wifi adaptor connects your Fujitsu to your phone. Set a schedule, control it remotely, or check what it cost to run last week. Works on high wall units and ducted systems with full zone control.

Brand

Same unit, new name — nothing else changed

Fujitsu General NZ rebranded to General New Zealand on 1 January 2026. If you see "General Airstage" on the box, that is the new name for the same product. Warranties, parts availability and the support network are all unchanged.

Rough Pricing So You Know What to Expect

Every install is different, but these are typical ranges for supply and installation on the North Shore in 2026. Your free quote will give you a fixed price for your specific home.

$2,000 – $3,800
High Wall, Single Room

Fujitsu Comfort or Lifestyle Range, supply and install. This covers a back-to-back install where the outdoor unit sits directly behind the indoor one. Longer pipe runs are priced at quote time. No surprises.

$5,500 – $13,000
Multi Room

One outdoor unit, multiple indoor heads. Price varies by number of rooms and pipe run length. We price each job individually at quote time.

$8,000 – $20,000
Ducted, Whole Home

Fully hidden in ceiling or floor. Price depends on home size, number of zones and access for ducting. Most popular for new builds and full renovations.

For a full breakdown see our heat pump installation cost guide. The Warmer Kiwi Homes subsidy can reduce the high-wall cost significantly if you qualify.

How We Install Fujitsu (The Craig Standard)

1

We assess the room first — we don't just drop a box

We check room size, ceiling height and insulation. On the North Shore we also check boundary noise rules and salt air exposure to make sure the outdoor unit is placed correctly. Wrong size and it runs flat out all day. Wrong position and the airflow never reaches the far end of the room.

Room size and ceiling height

Determines the kW you actually need, not the closest bracket size.

Insulation and orientation

A north-facing, well-insulated room needs less capacity than a south-facing room with single glazing.

Indoor unit position

Affects whether the heat reaches the whole room or just the end nearest the unit.

Outdoor unit placement

Boundary noise rules, airflow clearance and whether neighbours will hear it at night.

2

The install itself

Craig holds an EPA Refrigerant Handling Licence. No shortcuts on the refrigerant side. A registered electrician handles all wiring. We clean up after ourselves, walk you through the remote before we leave, and back every install with a 12-month workmanship guarantee on top of the 6-year Fujitsu warranty.

EPA-licensed refrigerant handling
Registered electrician for all wiring
Boundary noise rules checked
Full app and remote walkthrough before we leave
House left tidy
12-month workmanship guarantee
3

We look after our own

Most installers disappear once the unit is on the wall. We don't. We handle every service and repair for our own customers. Whether it's the annual service to keep your warranty valid or a question years down the track, you call us directly. We installed it, we know it, and we look after it. We don't work on heat pumps we didn't install.

Could You Pay as Little as $400 for Your Fujitsu?

The Warmer Kiwi Homes grant covers up to 90% of the cost, capped at $3,450. Most eligible homeowners pay just $400 to $700 out of pocket. Craig is a registered provider and handles all the paperwork. Takes 2 minutes to check your eligibility.

Fujitsu Installation FAQ

Which Fujitsu model is right for my room?

For most single rooms the Comfort Range is the answer. It delivers solid efficiency at a lower price than the Lifestyle. If air quality matters, the Lifestyle Range has the Catechin filter with Sensitive Choice approval. For south-facing rooms or spaces that are hard to heat, we size up the kW. We assess the room first and tell you exactly which model fits before you commit to anything.

How long does the install take?

A standard high-wall Fujitsu install takes a few hours. Multi-room systems usually take a full day. Ducted systems take one to two days depending on the size of the home. We confirm the timeframe when we come out for the quote.

Do I need council consent?

Usually not. Heat pump installation is a permitted activity under the Building Act. The main thing to check is how close the outdoor unit ends up to your boundary, because noise rules apply. We check your site at quote time and flag anything before we start.

What warranty does a Fujitsu come with?

Fujitsu offers a 5-year parts and labour warranty as standard, or 6 years when installed by a Fujitsu accredited installer. That is a year longer than most competing brands. If the unit develops a fault in that time, the repair does not come back to you. Our installation work is also covered by a 12-month workmanship guarantee on top of that.

Who handles servicing and repairs after the install?

Craig handles all servicing and repairs on every unit he installs. Annual service to keep the warranty valid, anything that comes up in year three or five: you call us directly. We installed it, we know it, and we look after it. We don't work on heat pumps we didn't install.

Can I get a Fujitsu on the Warmer Kiwi Homes subsidy?

Yes, many Fujitsu models qualify. The subsidy covers up to 90% of the installed cost, capped at $3,450, for eligible homeowners. Most people who qualify pay $400 to $700 out of pocket. Craig is a registered WKH provider and can check your eligibility when you get in touch.

Do you install Fujitsu across the whole North Shore?

Yes. Takapuna, Devonport, Milford, Birkenhead, Glenfield, Albany, Silverdale, the East Coast Bays and the Hibiscus Coast. If you are not sure whether we reach your street, call us and we will tell you in 30 seconds.

Not Set on Fujitsu? We Install All Major Brands

We install all major brands and we are not paid more to recommend one over another. If you are weighing up Fujitsu against Daikin or Mitsubishi Electric, here is the honest short version: Fujitsu tends to win on value at the entry level and has the longest warranty in NZ at 6 years. Daikin leads on air quality features like the US7. Mitsubishi Electric leads on noise levels. All three are solid. The right one depends on your room, your budget and what matters most to you.
